Lalvin™ QA23™ has been selected in Portugal by the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) in collaboration with the Vinhos Verdes region's wine-growing committee. Lalvin™ QA23™ is an excellent choice for wine styles such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Chardonel, Chenin Blanc, Colombard and Gewürztraminer for the production of crisp and fresh-fruity wines. It enhances the aromas of the typical varietals through its beta-glucosidase activity and is an excellent thiol converter, making it a complementary yeast for developing varietal Sauvignon Blanc passionfruit character.

With its weak demand in assimilable nitrogen/nutrients and O2, Lalvin™ QA23™ will ferment low turbidity juice into dry wine at low temperatures (15°C), due to strong clearance. It is classified as a Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. bayanus. Very compatible with a malolactic fermentation.
